Standardization and expected performances of Connected Vehicles

ICT solutions for Connected Vehicles are requested to comply with C-ITS standardization by ETSI and CEN. Today V2X communication is permitted using protocols derived from WiFi and 4G technologies (i.e. IEEE802.11OCB/ETSI G5 and 3GPP C-V2X).
In this speech the benefits of connected vehicles are discussed stressing their expected performance in the scope of Day 1 and Day 1.5 final user services as standardized by the European C-ITS platform.
An outlook towards advanced services relying on 5G will be presented especially in relation with large scale infrastructures (notably ports) envisaged to evolve into fully digital environments.
